Book your first appointment five to six months before the wedding. Construction alone takes three to four weeks — and that sits inside a longer sequence of consultation, fabric, measurement, and two fittings.
Most grooms come to us later than they should. Not out of carelessness — nobody tells you a suit has a production schedule. The venue gets booked a year out. The suit gets remembered somewhere between the seating chart and the honeymoon flights.
Here is the timeline, working backwards from your date.
Suit or tuxedo. If the venue and season are set, that answers most of it. Booking early costs nothing and holds your place in the production calendar through peak season.
The long appointment. Cloth, lapel, buttons, vents, lining — and more than 45 individual measurements, including shoulder slope and posture. Bring a photo of the venue.
Your pattern is cut and the garment assembled by hand. Nothing is required of you here except patience and a stable weight.
You try on a half-built suit held together with white basting thread. It looks unfinished because it is. This is where the fit is genuinely resolved.
Small refinements only. Bring the shoes you will actually wear, so the trouser break can be set correctly.
Everything together — suit, shirt, tie, shoes, cufflinks. Walk in it. Sit in it. The last honest chance to catch anything.
What if my wedding is sooner?
Three months is workable for a single suit. What disappears is slack — if fabric delivery slips, the calendar gets tight fast. Eight to ten weeks means choosing from readily available cloth and accepting that a major change at the basted fitting may not be possible.
Under six weeks, call before you plan anything. Sometimes the answer is yes with a specific fabric and simplified construction. Sometimes the honest answer is that a rushed bespoke suit is a worse outcome than a well-altered alternative — and we will tell you that.
